Guatemala Restorative Retreat 2023 - July 22-29 Movement is Medicine in Central America
Hello Life Dancers!
Once upon a time, I took a leap of faith and bought a ticket to a county I would have probably never discovered on my own. How grateful I am for that! Going to Guatemala and learning about the culture and people was a true high point in my life.
So impressed and blown away by it all, I am now planning an amazing, one of a kind, restorative wellness retreat to take place at the extraordinary Villa Sumaya at Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. This special place is facing the powerful energies of the lake where a powerful and holy vortex exists. Wonderful healing swims await you!
Here is what will be offered for this week your restoration in our designated movement space at Villa Sumaya. You can attend whatever pleases you or relax more. You pick and choose what resonates!
•Wake up to a daily slow flow yoga or a Qigong slow flow practice that can be done by anyone especially if you are new to either modality, •Have time to journal beside and swim in the healing, sacred Lake Atitlan, •Afternoon in the multitude of gorgeous spaces and learn about Ayurveda wellness with me in sessions, •Consult in the Apothecary on site, •Bliss out in daily evening Biodanza movement sessions (5 in all), •Learn Dance of the Phoenix Qigong form= gentle movement that will open blockages in body, •Experience a yoga nidra class (the one where you deeply relax), •Experience a restorative yoga class (the one where you relax in a pose on the floor and then move on to the next pose after a bit of time...yummy!) •Experience an AromaDance class with essential oils = too much fun!, •a dance party or two, •Eat nourishing and sustaining food grown from the land prepared by loving hands, •Attend a Mayan Fire Ceremony, •Attend an intro to Sweat Loge ceremony, •Soak in the solar powered jacuzzi, •Laze along side the pool...bring a suit! •Receive a shamanic reading, •Receive wellness treatments from the staff at Villa Sumaya •A day trip into San Juan to visit a women owned textile Co-op and to check out the cute village offerings, •gentle hike/walks along the lake trails....so glorious! •And more and more and more....still cooking up the actual schedule!
Or do less if you please. It's up to you to choose.
7 days of restoration and a bit of adventure for you. It will be divine and profound, I promise.
Stay longer in Guatemala if you desire taking in another site on the lake or take a weekend in the quaint little city two hours away called Antigua which is on your way to the lake before or after your restoration bliss....
Bring your partner or BFF...maybe your older kids! Or perhaps come alone for some YOU time.
What do you think? Worried about going to a new and foreign place? No worries! I will guide you all the way!

ANSWERS TO FAQ
GETTING THERE - Fly toAuroraairport in Guatemala City (code: GUA), ideally arriving by 1pm. The drive to Lake Atitlan takes about 3 to 3.5 hours. A swift boat ride will bring you from Panajachel to our private dock. It is best to take an early morning flight to arrive in Guatemala around noon. Then you take the Kan Tours (below) transport solo or arrange in your group to the boat dock at Panajachel. From there, you take the short boat ride to the Villa. All arrange by Kan Tours so nothing to worry about. Very reliable.
TRANSPORT - We work closely with Kan Tours, a trusted shuttle company. They will organize your group's arrival and departure transport, which will be added to your bill at Villa Sumaya.
FOOD - Homemade gorgeous vegetarian food will be served and with gluten options/no MSG available. Chicken/Fish available upon request. Villa Sumaya makes every accommodation for your restoration.
VACCINATION - Guatemala does not require it; Villa Sumaya requires a negative Covid test (show proof that its been done 24 hours before arrival-box test is fine)
PASSPORT/VISA - You need a passport. You do not need a visa.
WEATHER - The weather is always changing but it is never over 85 degrees at Villa Sumaya and because we are lake front it is always cool with variable winds. It is never humid because we are at high altitude. It does rain in May and June and then again in Sept and Oct. The two months in between (July and Aug) are called the canicula or summer break and they are known having an ideal climate.
