A: You should wear something loose like sweats or dance pants and tee shirt. Even jeans or a skirt will do if you are coming in from work and forgot clothes! Classes are normally bare foot. Bring a water bottle to hydrate!
Q: I can’t dance! I have two left feet!
A: No problem – any one who can move can do Biodanza. The exercises are based on simple movements. If you have a specific disability or illness, talk to Michelle and she will advise. As for the two left feet...we'll find your "right" one for you as you connect more to your rhythm of life!
Q: What is Biodanza like or similar to?
A: Biodanza is a unique dance-movement form practiced worldwide comparable to none. Each session is guided and the facilitator does not talk during your dance. A safe container is created and kept at all times for the participants. Its added richness is that it offers a space of reclaiming lost aspects of our humanity, the capacity for pleasure, connection and sharing.
Q: Will I have to talk?
A: No. There is no talking during a class. Yeah...away from technology...we unplug!
Q: Is Biodanza a religion or a cult?
A: No. Biodanza is based on biology and is a profession in the complementary health sector.
Q: Is Biodanza based on scientific principles?
A: Yes. Biodanza is based on biological principles and works with rather technical levels of biological and neurological renovation.
Q: How was Biodanza discovered?
A: Biodanza is essentially the “science of a party”. Like most great discoveries, it was discovered by accident. Founder, Chilean Rolando Araneda Toro (below in photo) attended a party and realized everyone was happy and having a good time. This simple, basic observation led him to spend forty years exploring how music, simple movements and a “party atmosphere” could generate well-being and health in every category of human being.
The result has been a theoretical and empirically based method which has categorically helped hundreds of thousands of people reach higher states of well-being and self confidence.
